The two most functional items in a bedroom are your bed and wardrobe. While your bed can be easily styled through linens and décor, your wardrobe design should be a little more considered.
Our expert wardrobe design team shares their top tips for choosing the right wardrobe.
Doors to hide clutter
Most people would agree they want their bedroom to appear clean and organised. This is where a compact wardrobe design will work best. Doors on a wardrobe are essential for hiding everything inside and avoiding a cluttered look.
Design for organisation
To stay organised it is best to figure out the right inclusions for your needs. Generally a wardrobe should feature a large space for hangers, shelves for folded clothes, drawers for smaller items such as socks and underwear and possibly a few secret compartments to store your valuables.
Get creative with your design
If you have a smaller bedroom, rather than dedicating an empty wall to your wardrobe have it custom designed around the windows. If you are clever with the design you can even add some window nooks for comfortable seating.
Use mirrors to create space
You can also make your bedroom appear bigger with the use of mirrors. Adding mirrored doors to your wardrobe will help to reflect the light in your room and create a spacious feel. If you position the mirror opposite to a window it will also reflect the outside views again making the room seem larger than it is.
The style of wardrobe design will be a personal preference. Before having your wardrobe installed consider what you need it to do and create a clever design to both meet these needs and complement the room.
